घुटने की लंबाई तक की पारंपरिक पुरुषों की जैकेट है, शेरवानी के जैसे ही। अचकन बहुत ही हल्के कपडे से बनती है और इसी वजह से यह शेरवानी से अलग है, जो कि भारी होती है।इसकी आस्तीन लम्बी होती है व इसमें सीने के बायीं तरफ एक पॉकेट होती है। 

The traditional men's jacket is knee length, similar to the sherwani. The achkan is made of very light fabric and that is why it is different from the sherwani, which is heavier. It has longer sleeves and has a pocket on the left side of the chest.

उत्तर भारत से ताल्लुक रखती यह पोशाक अक्सर शाही अवसरों पर पुरुषों द्वारा पहनी जाती है। आजकल के चलन में लड़के इसे अपनी शादी में पहनते हैं। अचकन से ही नेहरू जैकेट फैशन में आयी।

Hailing from North India, this dress is often worn by men on royal occasions. In today's trend, boys wear it in their wedding. Nehru jacket came into fashion from Achkan itself.

कहा जाता है कि 18 वीं शताब्दी के उत्तरार्ध में अचकन दिल्ली सल्तनत व मुग़ल साम्राज्य के साथ-साथ तुर्की व फ़ारसी सभ्यताओं में भी प्रसिद्द परिधान था।

It is said that in the second half of the 18th century, Achkan was a famous garment in the Delhi Sultanate and the Mughal Empire as well as in the Turkish and Persian civilizations.
